Critic Rave About 'Jersey Boys'

Jersey Boys opened to a packed and enthusiastic audience Wednesday night. the audience can only be described as ecstatic as it embraced the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. This was my first time at this Jukebox Musical with music by Bob Gaudio, lyrics by Bob Crewe and book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice.

A Jukebox Musical is a musical--it can be live or on film--that uses a group of popular songs as its score, made famous by a particular group, and tells the group's story.

Jersey Boys is the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons rise to fame and eventual break up as told by each of the four main characters. It opened on Broadway in 2005 and has toured around the world winning four Tonys in 2006 including Best Musical. The story is about the groups' great success, their challenges, their criminal backgrounds and their eventual demise. It's engaging and fun and make the audience feel like its a part of the story. Jersey Boys starring Nick Cosgrove, Brandon Andrus, Jason Kappus and Nicholas Dromard runs through September 29th at the Ohio Theater.
