Group Uses Weekend Shootings To Push Stivers For Gun Meeting

A group that lobbies for gun control is using two weekend shootings to call for a meeting with a Central Ohio Congressman. Late last week, on the six month anniversary of the Sandy Hook school shooting, Republican Representative Steve Stivers said “I will work with any group that wants to roll up their sleeves and find solutions. Now the Columbus chapter of a group called “Moms Demand Action For Gun Sense In Americaâ€? is taking him up on that offer. The group says a three-year-old shot while playing in a yard and an 11-year-old shot at a weekend festival are just the latest signs that tougher gun laws are needed. Group members say they’ll call Stivers today to talk about their goals, including mandatory background checks for all gun purchases and banning assaults weapons and clips that hold more than 10 rounds.
