McGee- Brown Will Not Apply For Vacant Supreme Court Seat

A Democratic justice who lost her election to the Ohio Supreme Court is not among applicants for a coming vacancy to a separate high court seat. An Ohio Democratic Party spokesman says Justice Yvette McGee Brown is not among applicants for the vacancy being left by retiring Justice Evelyn Lundberg Stratton. Gov. John Kasich's office was expected to release the list Monday of those who met a Friday application deadline. Another ousted incumbent, Republican Robert Cupp, also didn't apply, citing concerns it might appear to influence decisions he makes in upcoming rulings. Hamilton County Appellate Judge Patrick Fischer, the president of the Ohio State Bar Association, told The Associated Press on Friday that he had applied.
