Trial Of Suspected Chardon Shooter Delayed Until Next Year

The trial of the Northeast Ohio teenager charged in a school shooting rampage that killed three students has been delayed until Jan. 14 while his attorneys prepare an insanity defense. The trial of 18-year-old T.J. Lane had been scheduled for Nov. 26 in Chardon east of Cleveland, but a judge has now pushed back the trial at the request of Lane's attorneys. Defense attorney Ian Friedman confirmed the postponement to The Plain Dealer. Lane's attorneys have said he suffers from hallucinations, psychosis and fantasies. Lane faces a maximum sentence of life in prison without parole if convicted of the shootings Feb. 27 in the Chardon High School cafeteria.
