ODOT To Revamp North Columbus Interchange

There could be some relief coming for people who drive in north Columbus. The state is rebuilding a portion of the outerbelt around Columbus to reduce congestion and improve safety for drivers headed to a fast-growing part of central Ohio. The Columbus project involves two new express lanes from Interstate-270 to northbound U.S. 23 headed into Delaware County. The Transportation Department says the lanes will go beneath existing U.S. 23 and reemerge just north of the Franklin County line, bypassing traffic lights. The project was one of several announced by the Ohio Department of Transportation Thursday as part of an ongoing road construction effort. The state also announced plans Thursday to build a new bridge under the Norfolk Southern Railroad in Cleveland, rebuild an interchange at I-275 and U.S. 32 in Clermont and replace a railroad bridge over I-75 in Hamilton County.
