The Ohio Supreme Court rejected an appeal by an anti-tax group in Westerville to reduce school district property taxes. As a result of the Thursday ruling, voters in the Westerville City school district will be denied a chance to weigh in on a proposed tax levy reduction. The group called Taxpayers for Westerville Schools sucessfully petitioned to place a repeal of part of a 2009 tax levy on the November 6th ballot. But, district resident Eugene Hollins protested the petition and the Franklin County Board of Elections ruled in Hollins' favor and pulled the issue from the ballot. Now, the Ohio Supreme Court has upheld the Board of Elections decision. Franklin County ballots will be mailed to military personnel beginning Saturday. Board spokesman Ben Piscatelli says the Westerville school issue will not be listed on the ballot.
