Historic Circle D Likely A Total Loss After Overnight Fire
Witnesses in Circleville report a downtown full of smoke and flames shooting skyward as the historic Circle D roller rink and bowling was apparently destroyed in an overnight fire. Circleville Fire Captain Marc Zingarelli said the building was likely a complete loss. Zingarelli said the fire was still burning late Tuesday morning, but it had been contained. He said crews were demolishing the building because it was not safe to enter. Connie Robinson owns the Hot Spot Café a few doors down. She says downtown Circleville was a chaotic scene early Tuesday. "When I got here this morning the flames were still shooting up pretty high," Robinson said. "We've taken coffee down to the firemen, breakfast down to them. Just trying to help out wherever we can." Robinson says many of her adult employees frequented the business as kids. The Circle D Facebook page says it's been family owned since 1954.
