Ohio Parents Accused Of Fencing 4-Year-Old In Bed

A Fairfield County couple has been charged with kidnapping and child endangerment after deputies discovered a four-year-old’s bed was covered with fencing. Fairfield County Sheriff Dave Phalen says deputies were responding to a domestic disturbance call at a home near Pleasantville when they discovered the enclosed bed. "They happened to look into one of the bedrooms and they noticed that there was a bunk bed with steel mesh around the bed," Phalen says. "They discovered that this is where a four-year-old was placed." Phalen says the couple, 34-year-old Russell Terry and 32-year-old Jamie Curnell admitted that they kept a child in the bed. "The conditions were deplorable; they were very dirty and they -- the parents-- indicated that the child was kept there during the evening hours because they didn’t want the child to get up during the night," Phalen says. Phalen says each parent is being held in the county jail on $500,000 bond. The four-year-old and an eight-month-old were placed with child protective services.
