Jobless Rate Continues Downward Slide

Ohio's unemployment rate continues a slow-but-steady downward track. The state's unemployment rate ticked down last month from 7.6 percent to 7.5 percent, even though the state lost some 9,500 jobs. Ben Johnson with the state Department of Job and Family Services says trade, transportation, utilities and manufacturing saw the most job gains. "We saw decreases in leisure and hospitality, about 5,000 fewer jobs. In construction about 7,000 fewer jobs. And in education and health services," Johnson said. The state's unemployment rate peaked at 10.6 perecnt two years ago and is now at its lowest since 2008.
