Arson Ruled In Delaware County Fire

The State Fire Marshall has ruled arson was involved in at least one in a series of fires yesterday in Delaware County. A reward has been posted to find a suspect who may be linked to more suspicious fires in another county. The fire at a barn on Woodtown Road in Sunbury has been ruled arson by the State Fire Marshall. Spokesman Shane Cartmill says two other fires that started within an hour of the first are considered suspicious. “Investigators were able to eliminate all accidental causes and they did find specific information that indicates the fire was intentionally set. But, again because it’s an ongoing criminal case we will not go into the specifics of the case,â€? says Cartmill. Cartmill says a reward of up to $5,000 has been posted for information leading to a suspect in the fires. And he says more suspicious fires could be involved. “We also are looking into similarities with other fire scenes that have occurred recently, and that includes two fires in Licking County in February, one on February 8th and one on February 23rd. And then also another series of fires that took place back in August of 2011," says Cartmill. No one was injured in any of the fires.
