Michelle Obama Tells Columbus Group Veterans Need Job Help

First Lady Michelle Obama used a west side warehouse as a backdrop to campaign for more business support for veterans and their spouses. The crowd of 200 workers and veterans at a West Side Sears distribution center welcomed the first lady's call on business and non profits to adopt veteran friendly policies. "We're calling on them to recruit and hire veterans and military spouses." Mrs. Obama suggests adoption of flexible work schedules and what she called "portable jobs" to help veterans and their spouses build seniority within a company. "We see them trying to build seniority at their jobs but seeing that they have to keep starting over every time that they have to move to a new duty station." Columbus was the final stop in a four day tour dubbed "joining forces."
