Franklin Co. Board of Elections Director: Voter ID Bill Not Needed

A bill passed by the Ohio house Wednesday requiring voters to show government-issued photo identification is now on its way to the Ohio Senate. The measures passed along a near-party line vote after rancorous debate in the house. Republican Louis Blessing cosponsored the bill. He said the measure was designed to protect the integrity of the voting process and combat voter fraud. Democrats countered that it was an attack on the right to vote targeting the elderly, minorities and the poor. William Anthony, head of the Franklin County Board of Elections, said the bill is "a solution looking for a problem."
