Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman said recommendations will be forthcoming soon regarding the future of Nationwide Arena and the Columbus Blue Jackets.
The Blue Jackets have said they need a new lease agreement with Nationwide Arena to remain competitive in the NHL. Local government and business leaders have been discussing a way to re-work the lease agreement.
Coleman told WOSU's All Sides with Ann Fisher that an agreement likely would require the Franklin County run Columbus Convention Facilities Authority to play a role in the management of the arena. And Coleman said an agreement could also include a management agreement between Nationwide Arena and OSU's Value City arena - which now compete for some shows.
Coleman reiterated his position that no City of Columbus general fund revenues would be used to save the Jackets or help Nationwide Arena.
Coleman also told Ann Fisher that despite frequent rumors that he will leave office, he is not leaving his post as mayor. But Coleman would not committee to running for re-election.
