Ohio Law Allows Additional Appeal of Insurance Company Payment on Medical Claim
State insurance regulators are encouraging Ohioans to appeal an insurance company's decision on how much to pay in medical expenses if they believe the payment falls short.
A state law allows insured individuals to challenge insurance company refusals to cover expenses for surgery and other medical treatment.
Assistant director of the state insurance department Ann Jewel says her office has been trying to get the word out.
Jewel notes, no attorney is required for individuals to take their appeal to the next level - an independent review board.
