Ohio Jobless Numbers Keep Rising.
Ohio unemployment has risen to another new 25-year high as the state continued to lose jobs in March.
The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services said today that the state's unemployment rate went up to 9.7% last month,from a revised 9.5%in February.
Department spokesman Brian Harter says Ohio joblessness is the highest it has been since April 1984.
The unemployment rate has gone up by more than two full percentage points since October and November, when it held steady at 7.3%.
The number of workers unemployed in Ohio in March was 578,000, up from 567,000 in February. The number has increased by 211,000 in the past year. State officials say employment continues to decline in both services and manufacturing.
