Governor Denies Clemency for Death Row Inmate
Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland has denied a request for clemency by a condemned killer awaiting execution Wednesday.
Strickland said in a one-page statement he made his decision after reviewing all the materials in the case of Gregory Bryant-Bey, who was sentenced to die for the 1992 killing of a collectibles store owner in Toledo.
Bryant-Bey has asked the U.S. Supreme Court to delay his execution to give him more time to present additional information to Strickland.
He argues that he should receive a delay until the high court rules on a similar argument presented by a Tennessee death row inmate.
