Max & Erma's Becomes Second Columbus-Based Restaurant Chain to be Sold in a Week

Max & Erma's stock closed up nearly 30 percent Monday on word the Columbus-based restaurant chain is being purchased by a G & R Acquisition Inc of Pittsburgh.

Restaurant spokesman Robin Yocum says G & R is owned by Pittsburgh entrepreneur Gary Reinhardt Senior, a fan of the restaurant, and the headquarters will remain in Columbus

Yocum says the well-known sundae bar, cookies and garbage burger will remain part of the restaurants. The chain has 79 corporate-owned locations and 27 franchise locations.

Last week, Wendy's restaurants, a Columbus-based operation for 39 years, was sold to the owner of Arby's.
