Gov. Strickland endorses Clinton's presidential bid
Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland endorsed Hillary Clinton for president Friday, saying she would be the best candidate to win the race and represent Ohioans' interests in the White House.
The Democrat is perhaps best positioned to help Clinton translate her early lead in the polls into a primary victory in the bellwether state. His first state budget was supported by nearly every Republican and Democrat in the Legislature, and his popularity ratings are high.
A former congressman from Appalachia, Strickland squelched rumors during the endorsement announcement that he may be in contention as Clinton's running mate next year. He said he is not interested in the vice presidency.
