Democrats, Republicans honor Gillmor at memorial service
U.S. House Republican leader John Boehner says his Ohio colleague Paul Gillmor was a decent, honest man who tried to do the best for his constituents.
Gillmor died last week, and Boehner and other dignitaries paid him tribute during a memorial service today at the Ohio Statehouse. It came after hundreds of mourners filed passed the casket while Gillmor lay in state for two hours in the Capitol Rotunda.
The memorial was held in the adjacent Atrium, which was filled with Gillmor's family, members of Ohio's congressional delegation and state lawmakers. The service was projected on a screen in the Rotunda so those who didn't fit in the Atrium could watch.
