The wife of Mayor Michael Coleman has quit her state job amid questions about whether she worked all the hours she submitted on her time sheets.
Development Director Lee Fisher says Frankie Coleman's resignation took effect on Friday.
She had worked as an assistant manager of workforce development since late February.
Governor Strickland asked state inspector Tom Charles to help with an investigation by the development department into whether Coleman worked the hours she claimed. Monday afternoon Mayor Coleman released a statement disclosing that Mrs. Coleman has checked herself into an in-patient alcohol treatment program outside the City of Columbus. Today is one of the toughest of our lives, but Frankie and I are dealing with it together, Coleman said in a written statement," I am proud of Frankie for accepting responsibility for her problem and seeking help through a respected inpatient alcohol treatment center. I love her very much and my only concern at this point is for a healthy recovery. Mrs. Coleman earlier was convicted of drunken driving.
