An Ohio House committee has approved a compromise to a controversial statewide crackdown on adult businesses.
By a vote of 8-to-7, the Republican-controlled Judiciary Committee has passed strip-club rules forbidding any touching of the dancers and requiring them to keep some clothes on when dancing past midnight.
The original measure brought to lawmakers by Cincinnati-based Citizens for Community Values called for a six-foot buffer zone between dancers and patrons and a midnight cut-off for all stripping. The Christian group agreed to the changes to its proposal.
An organization of adult clubs has said they intend to challenge the restrictions in court if they become law.
