Monday was the first day of deer-gun season, and it has already proved deadly.
Investigators from the Richland County Sheriff's Office and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources were out at five-forty-five this morning at the farm where a 20-year-old Mansfield man was accidentally shot and killed yesterday.
Billy Prince was hunting with his 53-year-old uncle, Earl "Steve" Hardy, when Hardy mistook Prince for a deer. Prince was shot around six-fifteen a-m. But hunting was not supposed to start until 7 a-m.
Captain Dale Rhoades with the Richland Sheriff's Office says it will be up to the county prosecutor to file any charges, if any.
Earlier today investigators were gathering footage of the lighting conditions at the same time Prince was shot.
That information will be turned over to the county prosecutor.
