Former Dublin Coaches Plead Not Guilty

Two former Lacrosse coaches at Dublin Coffman High School today appeared before Franklin County Municipal Court judge Anne Taylor to answer criminal charges.

Former Dublin Lacrosse head coach Brian Simpson and his father, former assistant coach frank Simpson today each pleaded "not guilty" to a single count of intimidation of a victim in a criminal case. They asked for a jury trial on charges.

The charges stem from allegations the two men questioned Lacrosse team members on April 17th about a team member's claim that he was forcibly raped by two other coaches while the team was on a bus trip to Memphis. Dublin City prosecutor Philip Miele says even though the charges against the Simpsons are misdemeanors their court appearance was important.

An attorney for the Simpsons, Chris Dusseau, declined comment after the hearing. If convicted Brian and Frank Simpson each face a one-thousand dollar fine and six months in jail.
