Agencies try to raise awareness about newborn safe haven law

Two local agencies are trying to promote the safe havens for newborns law. The law allows women to confidentially leave their newborn babies at police stations, fire stations or hospitals and not face any charges.

Franklin County Childrens Services and the non-profit Teen Pregnancy Asssistance Group will place billboards in the area telling people about the law.

Children Services director John Saros says mothers need to know there are options.

In the past year, Saros says there have been three infant abandonments with one baby dying.
