Heinz Kerry touts husband's health care, college-tuition plans
Teresa Heinz Kerry pushed her husband's college-tuition-for-community-service plan during an appearance Monday before a group of about 250 Ohio working women in Columbus.
She said the plan would enable more young people to go to college and would reverse a trend in which an increasing number of youths feel alienated and disenfranchised.
Under the plan by Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry, every graduating high school senior would be offered four years of free college tuition in return for two years of community service.
Heinz Kerry also outlined her views on economic benefits and health care for women. Her spokeswoman said she's focusing on women's issues this week in preparation for the observance of Women's Equality Day on Friday.
