Judge sets trial date for highway shootings suspect

The judge in the serial highway shooting case has set a January 7th trial date for suspect Charles McCoy Jr.

The ruling came during a hearing Wednesday morning in Franklin County Common Pleas Court.

McCoy faces a murder charge in the November shooting death of Gail Knisley. authorities suspect him in at least 11 other highway shootings.

Judge charles schneider asked for a report on mccoy's competency to stand trial and set aside five thousand dollars in county funds to pay for the defense's private investigator.
