Authorities add to possible shooter profile

Investigators added to the list of possible characteristics of whomever is responsible for the shootings near the south outerbelt.

Franklin County Sheriff's chief deputy Steve Martin says the shooter is likely driving a plain car that may have been altered. He says the shooter may have left the area after the shooting death of Gail Knisley who was killed as she rode in a car along I-270. Martin also says the shooter may have started to abuse alcohol or drugs after the Knisley murder.

Investigators have received more than 1,700 tips.

Authorities have linked 15 shootings in the area near the southern portion of I-270. Ballistics have matched the bullets in six shootings to the same gun.
