Gawker, the edgy online news brand credited with paving the way for Internet journalism since its debut in 2003, announced this week that it will focus solely on politics.

Previously, the site had covered a wide range of topics through its blogs, like Jezebel for feminism and Deadspin for sports.

NPR media correspondent David Folkenflik joins Here & Now's Indira Lakshmanan to discuss Gawker's decision and other recent turns of events in the news industry.
