Climate Resolution, Safe Routes to School on Deck for Cleveland City Council

Cleveland City Council holds its last regular meeting tonight before the start of summer recess, and elements of Mayor Jackson’s development plans will get a hearing during a long committee session beforehand.

Among the bills on deck for city council are Jackson’s plans for infrastructure improvements along routes to school, a contract with the Peacemaker’s Alliance to reduce violence and $1 million for home renovations.

Also on the committee agenda is the plan to turn over jail operations to Cuyahoga County, and to sell the city police headquarters building.

A resolution will be introduced supporting the Paris Climate Accord from which the president has withdrawn the United States.

It’s likely much of that agenda will go to a vote tonight. And council will be trying something new: according to a news release, two interpreters will be on hand to translate the proceedings into Spanish.
