Immerse Sensory-Friendly Concert

On April 22, WOSU will host IMMERSE, its first-ever interactive, sensory-friendly concert for students ages 6-12 who are autistic. You and your child are invited to participate in this pilot program.
This hour-long event will feature a short concert and a chance for attendees to interact with the music and the musicians through art, music and movement activities.
This program is designed with your child’s sensory needs in mind. Music will be performed by small groups, without amplification. There will be a variety of seating options, including “concert hall” seating, tables with chairs and comfortable floor seating.
There will also be a quiet area adjacent to the performance space where participants can get some separation from the concert if they’re feeling overwhelmed, yet still hear the music.
IMMERSE is a joint project between WOSU Public Media’s Classical 101, The Ohio State University School of Music and The Ohio State University Nisonger Center, with funding support from Norma Hedgecoth.
The event is free, but registration is required and limited to 15 students per session. You may register for one of two sessions: Saturday, April 22 at 10 a.m. or 1 p.m.
IMMERSE will be held at WOSU Public Media headquarters, located at 1800 N. Pearl Street. Convenient parking is available in the Ohio Union North Garage. Parking validation is included with event registration.
