Columbus's Jimmy Orrante Creates a New Ballet
Jimmy Orrante, long time leading dancer of Ballet Met, has been teaching, dancing and creating new work since retiring from our favorite ballet company last year.
One of Jimmy's latest projects is his new ballet The Ugly Ducking which was performed recently at the Rochester, N.Y. Ballet. Of special interest is the presentation of sensory-friendly performances of this new work, which Jimmy recently discussed on TV:
Ballet, like every art form, exists for the audiences. There are audiences today who find it difficult to sit quietly in the dark to watch a performance. Sensory friendly performances use sound and lighting adjustments and enable audience members to move around. If this audience can find it difficult to come to the art, the art comes to them.
Kudos to Jimmy for producing yet another beautiful ballet, which is danced for any audience wishing to be entertained.
