The 75th Anniversary of the Frick Concert Series: On Air at 7PM

The Frick Collection Concerts is going into its 76th year of live concerts and broadcasts. Since 1939, the series has brought quality live performances, lectures, courses, studio programs, and even continued the tradition of salon concerts. It's an impressive program list. (Here is an interesting PDF file from the Frick Collection website which lists every performer and ensemble since 1939. There are more than a few names of merit on the list!) Tonight's performance, which will air on WOSU Classical101 at 7pm, was recorded July 2nd, 2014 and features pianist Anna Vinnitskaya. This young pianist made her New York City recital debut with the Frick Collection performance, but she is no amateur. Hailing from Novorossiysk, Russia, she began piano lessons at age 6 and gave her first public recital by 18. Vinnitskaya is the recipient of both the Queen Elizabeth Award in 2007 as well as the 2009 Leonard Bernstein Award of the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival in Germany. The program for tonight includes: Debussy's Suite Bergamasque and L'Isle Joyeuse, Chopin's Ballade No. 4 in F minor, Op.2, and Prokofiev's Sonata No. 2 in D minor, Op. 14 (encore). Here is a sneak peek of the ten-week series schedule.
