Zuill Bailey goes to Oz and Comes to Columbus This Weekend

No, I don't mean Mr. Bailey was traipsing down the yellow brick road with Judy Garland and the Cowardly Lion. Zuill Bailey is an American cellist. He's been to Columbus before to appear with ProMusica. He's back this weekend to play the Dvorak Cello Concerto with the Columbus Symphony. Jacques Lacombe conducts. Oz is a TV series from the early 1990s. It was the first series produced by HBO. The setting is a maximum security prison. There's a kindly nun, Rita Moreno, and authoritative warden, Ernie Hudson, and an assortment of inmates. Some become evil, some are redeemed, and some are evil all the way. Oz is great TV but it is not for the squeamish. All the horrors inside a men's prison are depicted. I'll leave it there. But the first season was leavened by a young cellist in on a drug bust. He takes his cello and plays in the middle of the day room floor, surrounded by murderers, drug tsars and cutthroats. There's Zuill Bailey TV star, affecting and beautiful in the midst of  24 hours of  horror, all day every day. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZEEx9FHNFI Mr. Bailey's character doesn't survive. Mr. Bailey did and does, and he'll be back in Columbus this weekend. He tamed savage beasts, and his playing will enthrall our audiences downtown. Go buy a ticket.
