Guitarist Jordan Dodson Featured This Week on Fretworks

Columbus native Jordan Dodson is making a name for himself as a very fine young classical guitarist. He was a Featured Artist in Residence for a week on Performance Today last year and will join us for the first of two visits on the next Fretworks broadcast Saturday evening at 7 p.m. here on Classical 101. Among Dodson's recent accomplishments, he was one of two guitarists selected to inaugurate a new program in classical guitar at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia.  In his visit to our studio, I'll be talking with him and he'll play some J. S. Bach and contemporary music.  In part two of our visit next Saturday on Fretworks, he'll perform a bravura showpiece by Giulio Regondi. Also on the program this Saturday, I'll have recordings of Edward Flower playing his arrangements of traditional tunes, Eduardo Fernandez will play Catalan Folk Songs of Miguel Llobet, a trio for guitar, violin and cello with Trio Concertante, and Angel Romero will be the soloist in a concerto by Vivaldi with the Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields. Along with the fine recordings I have the pleasure of presenting to you every Saturday evening, this week is special. Don't miss Jordan Dodson, a rising young artist from whom I'm sure we'll be hearing lots more in the future, on our next two Fretworks programs here on Classical 101.
