Guitarist Jordan Dodson Live on Classical 101, Thursday, 10:30 am

Above: Grove City native Jordan Dodson on American Public Media's Performance Today. In the days long before Guitar Hero, Jordan Dodson thought he wanted to be a rock star. Now with acoustic guitar in hand, he's well on his way to becoming a guitar hero of an altogether different kind. Dodson, a native of Grove City, is rapidly making a name for himself as one of the world's most gifted young classical guitarists. With a busy schedule of solo recitals - including one this weekend in Columbus - and a passion for commissioning new music, Dodson has come a long way since getting his first guitar as a kid. "For my eleventh birthday I asked for a guitar, and I got it," Dodson said. "And I watched music videos all day long and started some bands and took guitar lessons at a music shop for a while." His teacher introduced him to the classical guitar repertoire, Dodson made progress and the rest is becoming history. Thursday at 10:30 a.m. on Classical 101 Dodson will talk about his career as a solo and chamber artist and will play some selections from his upcoming solo recital, Sunday, Nov. 10, 2 pm, at Highlands Presbyterian Church in Columbus. Join me Thursday at 10:30 a.m. to hear Jordan Dodson live on Classical 101!
