The School of Music at The Ohio State University presents Mozart's Requiem Mass, K. 626 in Mershon Auditorium Sunday March 3 at 3 pm. Admission is free to all OSU Students. The rest of us can order tickets at wexarts.org. Or show up at the box office on the day. Mozart worked on his Requiem literally on his deathbed, in November and December 1791. He died just after midnight, December 5, 1971 at the age of 35. The Requiem was unfinished. Konstanze Mozart needed the fee promised for the complete work. She convinced her husband's pupil, Franz Xavier Sussmayr, to paste together a finale from Mozart's sketches. Dr. Robert Ward is director of choral studies at Ohio State. He and I spoke about Mozart's final work, beginning with the question, who finished it, anyway?!?
