Denmark-based photographer and classically trained cellist Nikolaj Lund knows that photographing classical musicians involves more than spiffing up tuxedos and sculpting up-dos. It's about capturing the human beings behind the instruments, the secret, often quirky ingredients that allow musicians to connect with others through their art. This gallery of Lund's photographs (published in Limelight magazine) shows musicians not just doing business as usual: a percussionist defies gravity amid flurries of sheet music, three musicians lie buried beneath a cello, a pianist floats on a baby grand piano adrift on the water.
