Today's Serenity Break

Open your computer this morning? I don't know about you, but I'm a tad overwhelmed by Wall Street protesters, Sarah Palin, lousy economy, Afghanistan, lousy economy (again) and Steve Jobs (RIP- You wouldn't be reading this blog without Steve Jobs). For today's serenity break, let me recommend Music for Compline by the British chamber choir Stile Antico. This is not their latest CD, but as with anything I've heard them do, this program of plainchant and music from 15th-16th century England is exquisite. Listen to Miserere nosti Domini by Thomas Tallis (1505-1585) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYHE7vyAc4w If you've seen The Tudors mini- series you'll think of Tallis in a different light. Who knew one could be way cool 500 years ago? For the ultimate serenity break, go to St. Joseph Cathedral, Columbus the first Sunday of the month at 9 PM. Their choir does a twenty-minute compline service by candlelight.  Sublime.
