Kabul's First Music School

Music and courage always seem to go hand in hand. Nowhere is that phenomenon more true today than in Kabul, Afghanistan, where a courageous man has opened the struggling nation's first post-Taliban music school, according to a post on Norman Lebrecht's Slipped Disc blog. Dr. Ahmad Sarmast founded the Afghan National Institute of Music in 2010. The school now gives 150 Afghan youth - boys and girls - opportunities to learn how to play musical instruments and to play music together in orchestras and wind, rock and jazz bands.
