Atma Classique is 15 Years Young and Growing
Are you familiar with the record label Atma Classique and its lineup of artists? I confess, if it weren't for being in the radio business working with classical labels and distributors, I probably wouldn't have heard of it. While doing some research, I came across mention of their 15th anniversary season this fall. I had no idea they'd been around this long. Comparatively speaking, 15 years is not a long time in the record biz, especially when compared to the likes of  RCA (founded in 1919), EMI (1931) Sony Classical (1927), among others. Even so, ArkivMusic shows they have 348 Atma recordings available for purchase. 348! This averages out to be around 2 CDs a month for 15 years. Not bad for a small label. Atma's recordings will be popping up in our radio playlists for your enjoyment, with the newest ones airing first on "New Release Tuesdays." In the meantime, you may want to check them out online via their website and their YouTube videos.
