International Year of the Bat/Halloween Costume Trends

Bats are one of the most misunderstood mammals on the planet. They’re in the same class of animals as us humans and bats are important to our livelihood, just as we’re important to theirs. In this segment, we'll talk about and celebrate the International Year of the Bat.

  • James Eggers (Education Director for Bat Conservation International)

Why Care About Bats? The Columbus Zoo Conservation Lecture will be made by Dr. James Eggers of Bat Conservation International tonight at 7 p.m. at the Fawcett Center, 2400 Olentangy River Road. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and tickets are 10 dollars. For more information, call 614-724-3485.

A record 170 million Americans are expected to celebrate Halloween this year, according to the National Retail Federation. The average person will spend about $28 on costumes and it’s not just kids dressing up. Adults and pets are getting in on the action, too. In this segment, we'll talk about the hottest trends in costumes for this Halloween season.

  • Kathy Grannis (Spokesperson for the National Retail Federation)
