The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) has issued an air quality alert for today. The alert says the central Ohio region, including Franklin, Delaware, Fairfield, and Licking counties is likely to experience ground-level ozone pollution levels that are unhealthy for sensitive groups.

MORPC said sunny skies and temperatures in the 90s will encourage ozone development. Also, westerly winds are expected to transport smoke and ozone precursors into central Ohio which will enhance ozone production.

Active children, the elderly and people with asthma and COPD are more likely to experience severe symptoms when outdoors.
