The Zanesville native who appeared on America’s Got Talent as Nightbirde died from cancer Sunday.

Several media outlets report Jane Marczewski, 31, had battled the disease for more than five years. It had spread to her lungs, spine and liver.

She performed last August on AGT and received overwhelming praise for singing her original song “It’s Ok.” Marczewski withdrew from the show in mid-season to focus on her health.

Numerous stars acknowledged her death on social media, including AGT host, Terry Crews. He wrote, “we are saddened to learn about Nightbirde’s passing.”

Debbie Holmes began her career in broadcasting in Columbus after graduating from The Ohio State University. She left the Buckeye state to pursue a career in television news and worked as a reporter and anchor in Moline, Illinois and Memphis, Tennessee.
